Composite chart
In astrology, a composite chart is a chart that is composed of the average of two or more horoscopes. It is a common practice to construct a composite chart when two people meet and form a relationship. The composite chart will give a clue as to the nature of the relationship that is likely to arise when they form an alliance.
As an example of the information that can be gleaned from a composite chart, let us look at an ill-fated relationship that has been widely publicised: the relationship between The Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales.
Although much as been said for the reasons of the marriage and subsequent break-up, let us look at the significance of their relationship from an astrological point of view. We will look at a composite of the four main points in the chart, the Sun, Moon, Ascendant, and Midheaven.
Diana, Princess of Wales -- The Prince of Wales -- Composite
Sun : 9 Cancer 26 - 22 Scorpio 25 - 15 Virgo 40
Moon : 21 Aquarius 30 - 0 Taurus 26 - 25 Virgo 43

Because of the preponderance of Virgo in this chart, it is quite obvious that their relationship was one of duty. It has even been said that Charles did not want to marry Diana, but he was put under a great deal of pressure from his father and other family members, and acceeded to their demands. He married the woman who he felt obliged to marry out of duty, but not the woman who he loved. Virgo is a barren sign, and although they had two sons from the union, the love they once felt soon evaporated.
Let us look at another well publicised relationship also involving Prince Charles: that of his long time lover, Camilla Parker-Bowles, who he has recently married:-

The charts of these two individuals are much more compatible. With regard to synastry, their Suns trine, their Moons sextile, and their Ascendants and Midheavens are in the same sign. This indicates they are much more comfortable in each other's company, in contrast to the fact that, astrologically speaking, Charles and Diana would have to work at their relationship to make it last. Because there was less hard work involved in making the relationship between Charles and Camilla last, it was only a natural consequence of events that Charles and Camilla would gravitate towards each other time and time again if they so chose, even if they were married to other people.
Perhaps because Charles felt so comfortable with Camilla, he confused those easy feelings with true love. Diana herself commented that the reason why her relationship with Charles dissolved because there were three people in the relationship, so perhaps if Camilla wasn't always hoovering in the background then Charles would have been a bit more inclined to put forth a little bit more effort into his relationship with Diana and her life would not have ended so tragically.
The composite chart between Charles and Camilla reveals the Sun is again in Virgo, which is a barren sign, and this shows they would not have any children from the union. Whether this is a match made in heaven or, again, Charles has married Camilla out of a sense of duty because so many people were harmed by his relationship with her is a question that only Charles and Camilla themselves can answer.
The composite Moon is posited in Gemini, so this reveals they both would be able to talk about their feelings. This is in contrast to the Virgo Moon in the composite chart between Charles and Diana, which indicates they were both very critical of one another, and this no doubt contributed to the deterioration of their relationship.
The composite Ascendant is Leo, which means that both individuals are dynamic, dramatic, and usually like to be the centre of attention, so only time will tell how they will manage to successfully share the limelight in their relationship. This is in contrast to the Virgo Ascendant between Charles and Diana, where they both felt a sense of duty and viewed their relationship as a working partnership.
The composite Midheaven is Aries, which reveals that both individuals want to be seen as leaders in their area of expertise, especially so for Charles, since he is heir to the throne. Camilla's Midheaven is also in the sign of Aries, so she likes to be in charge and she desires a position of leadership. Perhaps the attraction to Charles was the fact that he was a powerful man and would one day be the most powerful man in Great Britain. Camilla craved power, and like so many women who are scattered throughout the annals of history, she decided to gain power through her relationship with a powerful man.
In comparison, the Midheaven between Charles and Diana was in Gemini, so their relationship was filled with gossip with regard to the state of their marriage. Charles, no doubt, will try not to allow people to speculate on the state of his marriage and both he and Camilla will in all likelihood try to make it a success because with Arian Midheaven's they would be loathe to admit to themselves, much less anyone else, that they made a mistake when they resumed their relationship and harmed so many people, namely Diana, in the process.
